Slovakia offers a 33% cash rebate on expenses spent on film or TV production.
Minimum expenses required for a cash rebate are as follows:
300,000 EUR for TV features (or series), slates of films (max. 3 films per slate) spent in the Slovak Republic over a period of 3 years, after project registration.
100,000 EUR for individual feature films, documentary films and animated films, spent in the Slovak Republic over a period of 3 years, after project registration.
After registering the project, the producer will receive a registration certificate (which shall be delivered to the applicant company within 30 days after the project registration).
The eligibility period of expenses (3 years) starts upon the issuance of the certificate.
The cash rebate is payable after the applicant has paid all eligible costs and delivered the final balance sheet along with the auditor’s report.
The deadline for the registration of all projects is every August 31st of the respective year.
Upon completion of the production, the applicant needs to conduct an independent audit demonstrating the eligible costs incurred, and includes co-production or service agreements, and other documents.
The cash rebate will be issued after the documentation and information has been received and everything checks out.
